Worley Clinches Offshore Wind Contract in Taiwan

Worley has signed a contract with Shinfox Far East, a joint venture between Shinfox Energy and Far East Renewable Energy, to provide services for the Taipower Offshore Wind Project Phase II (TPC Changhua Phase II) in Taiwan.

Under the contract, the Australia-headquartered company will provide basic and detailed design services along with procurement and fabrication support for the offshore substation topsides and jacket structures, according to a social media post shared by Christopher Cowland, Vice President Global Growth Offshore Wind at Worley.

Worley said it will be applying a fully integrated approach with the OEMs and selected fabricators to provide Shinfox Far East with a solution that offers the opportunity to standardise delivery for future projects.

“We are thrilled to be a partner of Shinfox Far East on this critical project for Taiwan’s transition towards a more sustainable future, where it would be the first offshore substation by the state-owned electric utility, Taiwan Power Company”, said Cowland.

The project will be led from Worley’s London office, with support from the local teams in Singapore and India.

The 300 MW TPC Offshore Phase II was one of the eleven offshore wind projects selected by the Taiwanese government in April 2018 to be developed by 2025.

The wind farm is located approximately 14.7 kilometres west of Lukang in Changhua County.

The project is expected to generate 1 GWh of power per year and could generate enough renewable electricity to supply approximately 270,000 households.
