SPR debuts design for Lowestoft EA3 base

ScottishPower Renewables has revealed the initial design for its new £8 million East Anglia Three offshore windfarm base in Lowestoft’s PowerPark.

The 5000m² facility will be developed on Trinity Road on a site previously occupied by RJ Pryce and will support the 1.4GW offshore wind farm.

The site was acquired by ScottishPower Renewables in September 2024 and will become home to a new purpose-built operations and maintenance facility, subject to determination of the planning application submitted to East Suffolk Council.

The Trinity Road development, which will be wholly-owned by ScottishPower Renewables, is expected to have capacity for around 100 people, creating additional employment opportunities for the town and local area.

Matt Wooltorton, Project Construction Manager with ScottishPower Renewables (pictured, right), said: “It’s really exciting to see the new building brought to life in these initial designs.

As our East Anglia THREE windfarm starts to take shape in the southern North Sea, I look forward to seeing the same for our onshore base as we continue to work towards a cleaner and greener future for Lowestoft and the wider East Anglia region.”

Steve Hodger, ScottishPower Renewables Head of Offshore Operations and Maintenance (pictured, left), added: “This project will increase our footprint and investment within Lowestoft’s PowerPark and support the Council’s vision for the town as a powerhouse for the clean energy industry in the region for years to come.”
