New platform showcases East of England’s energy supply chain

A new online platform is helping to showcase the East of England’s energy supply chain capabilities.

GENERATE Energy Supply Chain provides a useful tool to demonstrate the strength and depth of the region’s energy sector to potential investors, energy developers, national contractors and government agencies.

Developed by GENERATE, the East of England’s energy-focused inward investment partnership, in collaboration with Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, the website allows businesses across the east to register their products, services and sector-related accreditations using detailed classifications spanning from oil and gas, nuclear and wind energy, to grid infrastructure and decommissioning.

The platform will help to improve supply chain visibility by forming a detailed picture of the East of England energy sector capabilities while identifying gaps in provision to enable targeted inward investment campaigns and activities.

“We spend time and effort promoting the region’s energy sector nationally and internationally,” said Ian Pease, business development manager at GENERATE.

Will it be able to support my business if we locate here? With GENERATE Energy Supply Chain, we can demonstrate the strength and capability with the press of a button.”

If a business is already registered on the Suffolk Supply Chain or Sizewell C Supply Chain portals, its information will be automatically ported across to GENERATE Energy Supply Chain.

“All you’ll need to do is login and review your entry to make sure it’s up to date,” said Ian.

Additional features will include an energy and infrastructure project tracker, which offers the functionality to list and search major projects taking place in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, including timelines, status updates and links to relevant tender portals.

Ian added: “Industry groups like East Wind and EEEGR have told us that their members sometimes struggle to find project information in one place. GENERATE Energy Supply Chain will start to address this, helping to build businesses’ confidence to invest in the area because they can see a strong pipeline of work for many years to come.”From established energy businesses to small companies with products and services relevant to the energy sector, GENERATE Energy Supply Chain makes it easier to get involved, contribute and grow.
