Supply chain specialist moves into OrbisEnergy in Lowestoft

A leading supply chain specialist delivering services to the UK energy sector has expanded into Lowestoft.

ASCO, established in 1967 and which operates from more than 60 locations worldwide, is increasing its footprint to maximise its potential with energy sector companies within East Anglia.

Since early 2022, there has been a major re-development programme of its Great Yarmouth supply base with new state-of-the-art facilities to enhance its operations and service delivery, which will be completed in early 2024.

Now ASCO, recently named the East of England Energy Group’s (EEEGR) member of the year, has opened an office at OrbisEnergy in Lowestoft.

As a logistics and materials management specialist, ASCO offers end-to-end supply chain support from the conception of a project through to procurement, purchasing, shipping, material management, environmental services and decommissioning.

Offering a suite of fully integrated services, ASCO has its UK headquarters in Aberdeen, with offices in Peterhead and Great Yarmouth and a presence in additional locations nationally and internationally.

Simon Turner, general manager for ASCO Southern UK, said the expansion was the next natural step for the progressive business.

He said: “The purpose of this expansion is to maintain our market position in the UK energy sector, as well as creating new opportunities in nuclear, carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) and hydrogen production.

“We want to get as close to the point of production as we can and where the decisions are being made.

“That’s why we are now also in Lowestoft and a tenant at OrbisEnergy.”

Ian Pease, business development manager at OrbisEnergy, said: “ASCO’s dynamism and business ethos is fantastic, alongside its ability for diversification and appeal cross-sector.

“Nothing is off the table in terms of what Simon and the ASCO team can do and it’s exciting to have his expertise as a physical tenant within OrbisEnergy.

“We have welcomed a few new businesses just recently, which just highlights the aligned ambitions of working together and harnessing the massive clean energy opportunities available.”
