The Low Carbon Innovation Fund (LCIF) provides equity finance for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the East of England that are contributing to the low carbon economy.
It is a venture capital fund that makes early-stage investments as equity or a convertible loan alongside co-investors. The company receiving the finance must be developing new and innovative products or processes in a low carbon, environmentally sensitive way.
The fund uses £20.5 million from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which is matched by over £30 million in private sector investment, generating more than £50 million of investment in the East of England. LCIF can invest in a broad range of sectors and targets £3.5 million from the ERDF to invest specifically in the creative industries sector.
Both smaller investments (between £25k and £75k) and larger investments (between £75k and £750k) are available and applications can be made at any time.
